Brookline Taqueria Partnering With Prominent Food Security Organization
Anna's has multiple locations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
BROOKLINE, MA — The leader of the region’s most prominent food security organization is stepping behind the counter at Anna’s Taqueria in Brookline to support her cause.
Project Bread President and CEO Erin McAleer will be rolling and serving burritos at Anna’s at 446 Harvard St. between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday night as part of a joint fundraiser between the two entities. A portion of all meals purchased in person this evening will benefit Project Bread’s upcoming annual Walk for Hunger on Sunday, May 3, where thousands of people gather at the Boston Common to raise funds that will be used to connect families with food resources and advocate for policies that make meals more affordable and accessible. The walk is expected to raise approximately $1 million and first began in 1969. Project Bread is a nonprofit headquartered at 145 Border St. in East Boston and was founded by Patrick Hughes and Floyd McManus.
According to McAleer, one out of every three households in the state struggle to afford food. Anna’s Marketing Director Laurel O’Keefe said the fundraiser is an example of the business’s commitment to community impact and the important role local businesses should have in ensuring families across the Commonwealth have access to nutritious meals.
