Man Facing Charges Of Attempted Mail Theft In Brookline Given Pre-trial Probation

The agreement gives the defendant a chance to have his charges dropped.

BROOKLINE, MA — A man awaiting trial on charges related to attempting to break into a United States Postal Service mailbox has been placed on one year of pre-trial probation, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Olivier Josinvil, 26, of Medford, was first arrested in July of 2024 on the charges of breaking and entering, malicious damage of property, possession of a burglarious tool, and receiving stolen property after reportedly trying to breach the mailbox in the area of The Shops at Putterham Hill on 1004 W Roxbury Parkway in Chestnut Hill using a universal key mail carriers use to open mailboxes that he is believed to have stolen.

Under pre-trial probation, Josinvil has the chance for his charges to be dismissed if he does not violate his regulations or commit any new offenses while it is in effect. The court-approved agreement was made by the prosecution and the defendant. Norfolk County Press Officer David Linton told Patch that Josinvil must also complete 20 hours of community service.
