Thank You, Brookline Patch Readers

You and your curiosity and your tips and your posts make Patch what it is.

Thank you, Brookline Patch readers, for taking time in your busy days to spend a few moments with Patch. We appreciate your visits and contributions, your tips and your additions to the calendar and we want you to know we take nothing for granted here.

In August, Brookline Patch recorded 22,843 visitors, and we're growing. For a town of 60,000 people, that's not bad. Our visitors hail from Brookline, for sure, but many residents of neighboring towns also land on Brookline Patch from time to time. That figure — compiled and verified through Google Analytics — includes readers on desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile and our app, and our visitors often access Patch on several devices over the month.

Here are 10 of the most-read articles on Brookline Patch in August.

Got a news tip? I'm Jenna Fisher, your local reporter and editor. You might have seen me running around town — literally, as I sometimes get wind of a story on my morning run. I didn't grow up here, but I've lived in Cleveland Circle for the past decade (gasp). My dad has regaled me with stories about friends he made here in the '60s when he was applying to be a part of the Peace Corps and they dropped people off in unfamiliar towns with nothing but a toothbrush. I've been covering news in our town — from marathons to dancing with the Brookline Stars to protests at the high school and special visitors to the Coolidge (yes, I did ask Jane Fonda and Johnny Depp about their thoughts on Brookline ) — for the past four years. So if you see a new sign over a formerly vacant business, or hear a helicopter overhead or see a car on the T tracks and want to know what's going on, drop me a line at Jenna.Fisher@Patch.com or tweet me on Twitter @ReporterJenna and I'll see what I can find out.

Our readers also love Brookline Patch's calendar of events — more than 1,200 visits were made to our calendar in August. Coming up soon on the calendar are The annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk on Sept. 23, Brookline Day, also on Sept. 23, Ceramics Date Night on Sept 28 and Mothers Out Front Community Coffee on Sept. 26.

Sounds like a lot of fun in Brookline, as always.

We also have some awesome contributors from the Erin Kinney and Shannen Ortale over at Brookline Interactive Group to and the great host of Grandstanders Live — if you haven't caught his special sports talk clip of the week from their show, don't miss it weekly on Patch — to the folks over at the non-profit Brookline Hub, who do some great features of local businesses, to our friends over at the Brookline Historical Society when they get a moment.

If you, too, would like to post on Brookline Patch, it's easy to sign up for a free user profile. As a Patch user, you can post articles, events, jobs, and announcements. And the "rules of Patch" are easy to follow: "No abusive content, no commercial spam, keep it local, and be awesome."

Here's another fun fact about Patch: Did you know that Patch is among the 100 most-trafficked websites in the United States? Patch ranks 91st on the most viewed websites in the country, according to Alexa. Brookline Patch is part of a broad network, with more than six dozen Patches in Massachusetts and more than 1,200 across the United States with local reporters on the ground. That's a lot of local news.

Many news websites are limiting access to free articles, but Patch articles and events by our journalists and our users are always free to view.
