📰 News we're reading

1. Book it: Concord Festival of Authors returns with new features, old favorites (concordbridge.org) — Concord's long-running Festival of Authors returns Oct. 8–29 with dozens of talks, readings, and panels at the main library, Fowler Branch, and venues across Concord and West Concord. Local readers can hear from writers with Concord ties, enjoy breakfast with authors at the Colonial Inn, and explore everything from mystery and romance to environmental fiction and Revolutionary history.

2. Concord Police log highlights: September 16-22, 2026 (concordbridge.org) — Concord residents can see a detailed snapshot of local police activity from Sept. 16–22, including traffic complaints, minor crashes, animal calls, and a few arrests. The log highlights incidents on familiar streets like Main, Garfield, Monument, and Laws Brook, offering a clear picture of public safety concerns and routine responses around town that may affect your neighborhood.

3. These 8 Massachusetts Towns Have The Best Historic Districts (worldatlas.com) — Concord's six historic districts—Main Street, Church Street, Hubbardville, Barrett Farm, North Bridge/Monument Square, and American Mile—offer days' worth of Revolutionary War and literary sightseeing right in town. From the Old North Bridge and Minute Man National Historical Park to the Emerson House and Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House, residents can rediscover why their community anchors Massachusetts' broader story of history-rich downtowns.

4. Going 'Home' again: New documentary spotlights folk band (concordbridge.org) — Concord musician Anna Huckabee Tull's song "Home," inspired by local rivers, the rude bridge, and Walden Pond, anchors a new documentary about her folk-rock band. Filmed largely in her Concord home and around town, the movie captures the band's camaraderie and deep affection for Concord's history and landscape while they rework the song and plan local screenings and performances.

5. Standouts, takeaways from Lawrence Academy's tie at Middlesex (soccerjournal.com) — A boys' prep soccer showdown in Concord saw Lawrence Academy claw back from a 2–0 deficit at Middlesex to earn a late draw. Sophomore defender Luke Andjus smashed home a dramatic equalizer in the final minutes, capping a strong second half that showed how dangerous visiting teams can be on Middlesex's home field.
