Dedham Gets State Grant For East Street Corridor Plan (patch.com) — Dedham has secured a $50,000 state Planning Assistance Grant to launch a detailed East Street Corridor Plan from the Endicott Rotary to the Westwood line. Residents, students, and local business or property owners will be invited to serve on a new advisory committee and help shape zoning changes and design guidelines for this key gateway to Route 128 and nearby commuter rail stations.
   

2. Man Hospitalized In Dedham Hit-And-Run, Police Say (patch.com) — Dedham police are investigating a hit-and-run on Needham Street that left a 38-year-old pedestrian hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Officers quickly traced a suspected vehicle to the driver's residence after a relative called about possibly hitting a deer, and the car was towed to the Dedham Public Safety Building for processing.
   

3. Energy Company Opens 125K SF Newton Office: The Boston Deal Sheet (bisnow.com) — Dedham residents can expect a major new housing complex next to Legacy Place, as Nordblom Co. has started building the 154‑unit Vantage development with both market‑rate and income‑restricted apartments. The project, replacing two older commercial buildings, will add amenities like a fitness center, work lounge, courtyard, and sky lounge, with completion targeted for 2028.
   

4. Why New Englanders should check in with their heating oil company ahead of winter (boston25news.com) — A Dedham heating-oil company is warning residents to prepare now as Massachusetts oil prices have jumped to nearly $6 a gallon, about 70% higher than last year. McFarlane Energy urges customers to review their budgets, track their usage, and avoid letting tanks run low, while also reminding residents that financial assistance programs are available for heating bills.
   

5. Former Braintree detective charged in harassment case (wcvb.com) — A former Braintree police detective accused of misusing license plate readers and other tools to track his ex‑girlfriend is scheduled to be arraigned at Dedham District Court on September 29. Court filings describe alleged months‑long harassment using GPS tracking, police databases, and Flock cameras, while the town cites an investigation that found improper use of police resources and notes ongoing privacy concerns around such technology.
