UPDATE: 13-Year-Old Killed by Train in Dedham

Authorities say the Dedham resident was fatally struck by a train near the Endicott station.

DEDHAM, MA - A 13-year-old from Dedham has died after getting struck by a Commuter Rail train.

At around 4:20 p.m., MBTA Transit police received a report of a person who was struck by a train near the Endicott Station in Dedham. According to a preliminary investigation, the victim was trespassing on the tracks when he was hit.

A bystander told Jorge Quiroga of WCVB that he saw a teen jump off the platform and jog along the train tracks.

The teen was declared dead at the scene.

Due to the incident, buses were initially used to replace train service between Readville and Dedham Corporate, but trains service resumed at 5 p.m. Passengers, however, should expect delays on inbound and outbound trains. A full list of delays can be seen on the MBTA website.

The incident is being investigated by Transit police, Dedham police, and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office.
