Malden Police Make Drug-related Arrest

The person was reportedly found with multiple illegal drugs meant for distribution.

MALDEN, MA — The police department announced the arrest of a man this week on multiple drug-related charges.

Jerry Pierre-Francois, 42, of Brockton, has been charged with possession to distribute a Class A substance, possession to distribute a Class B substance, and trafficking of a Class B substance, Malden police told Patch. Officer Cam Selfridge made the arrest on Sunday, March 1. According to the department, the substances in Pierre-Francois’ possession were crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.

“Don’t come to Malden with that poison. It doesn’t matter if it’s one bag or one hundred. Every single one has the potential to destroy lives and families. That’s why we take it seriously,” the department said in a statement. “You’re sitting in your car, scanning every mirror. Your palms are sweaty. Your heart’s racing. Every set of headlights in the rearview makes your stomach drop. You’re trying to look calm and ready on the outside, but inside, you’re nervous.”

The police emphasized that the city has zero tolerance when it comes to the presence of illegal substances within its borders.

Selfridge is a second-generation police officer, succeeding his father, Robert. His sister, Amanda Yanovitch, is also a Malden officer. Selfridge joined the department in the summer of 2019 and has been known for his drug enforcement efforts throughout his career.
