3 Medford High Students Finish Career Pathways Program
The program gives students experience for careers in environmental services and property maintenance.
MEDFORD, MA – The following announcement was submitted by Medford Public Schools.
On June 14 2018, Kevin Barrasso (‘19), James Bellino (‘19), and Noah Gabridge (‘18) completed the Career Pathways Program, a 10-week, credential-based career training program delivered in partnership with Malden Housing Authority, Triangle, Inc., and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Motivated by a desire for paid employment, Kevin, James, and Noah attended 32 hours of training during April school vacation week. They earned their lifetime OSHA 10 certification and completed EPIC self-advocacy training along with IMPACT:Ability verbal and physical safety skills training. Classroom instruction was followed by hands-on, paid work experiences at Malden Housing Authority.

Kevin Barrasso gave the student, keynote speech followed by Gary Christenson, Mayor of Malden, Representative Paul Donato and leaders from Triangle, Inc and Malden Housing Authority. "I learned about landscaping, cleaning, and working with residents in Malden housing. More importantly I learned to show up on time and to support my fellow coworkers," Kevin said in his address at the graduation ceremony.
The Career Pathways – Property Maintenance Program is a partnership with Malden Housing Authority, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Triangle, Inc. Individuals in this program receive occupational safety training and hands-on, paid on-the-job training experience that is needed to pursue a career in environmental services and property maintenance. This program has been funded by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
