Medford PD, Middlesex Sheriff Warn Of Law Enforcement Impersonation Scam (iheart.com) — Medford police and the Middlesex Sheriff are warning residents about scammers posing as law enforcement and demanding Bitcoin payments for fake arrest warrants and missed jury duty. One Medford resident recently lost $7,500 in this scheme. Officials stress they will never request payment by phone or in cryptocurrency and urge anyone suspicious to hang up and call police directly.

2. Medford: Man Arrested After Disturbance at Fells Plaza (thesomervillenewsweekly.blog subscription) — Medford officers responded to Fells Plaza Wednesday evening after reports of a man chasing people near BioLife Plasma Services and possible gunfire, quickly detaining a suspect and determining no firearm was involved. A thrown glass bottle slightly injured a nearby child, and a Washington, D.C. man now faces assault charges after being arraigned in Somerville District Court.

School News, Aug. 28, 2026 (keenesentinel.com) — Two local students from Vermont communities recently graduated from Tufts University in Medford earning dean's list honors for the spring 2026 semester. The roundup also highlights numerous New England students recognized on dean's and president's lists or earning degrees from colleges across the region, showcasing a wide range of academic accomplishments.

Somerville's Out of the Blue art gallery is on the move back to Allston - Cambridge (csindie.com) — Medford gets a brief spotlight as the former home base for Out of the Blue Art Gallery, which once operated out of owner Parama Chattopadhyay's Medford residence between Cambridge and Allston stops. The long-running, eclectic gallery is now leaving Somerville's Armory after a city takeover and relocating performances and visual art to the Jackson Mann Community Center in Allston, with some works headed to storage in Medford.
