Don't Trust Your Caller ID; 'Fake Police' Phone Scam in Medford Ongoing
Callers have been impersonating Medford Police officers in recent weeks.

Last week, Medford Police warned residents of a recent phone scam. On Wednesday, police reiterated their message, telling residents to stay alert as the scam has been reported again this week.
In the scam, callers have been impersonating Medford Police officers and telling residents that they owe money in attempts to get personal information, police said. The call even appears to come from the department’s number on caller ID, as the scammers are using a computer program to change the number.
The department never collects money or funds for any entity or government agency, or ask for personal information, over the phone, according to police.
