SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Movement, Rhythm + Voice is a guided, holistic experience that invites the release of tension, reconnection to the body, and the awakening of joyful expression through breath, rhythm, sound, and symbolic movements. Rooted in seasonal cycles, the practice welcomes all emotions and celebrates the vitality of being alive. Repetition and rhythm support a deep, embodied experience, while live drumming grounds the journey and connects the group to a shared heartbeat. Inspired by the intercultural approaches of Katherine Dunham and Herns Duplan, the session blends accessibility, intention, and play. No prior experience is needed. This special workshop honors all mothers, on Earth and in memory, and brings all generations together in a space of connection, celebration, and shared energy.
