The Friends of the Medford Public Library Annual Meeting Daniel Webster : I Still Live! A Performance by Jim Cooke Thursday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. Daniel Webster lives again in this dramatic and entertaining performance. Meet the New Hampshire farm boy who grew up to become the nation’s orator and statesman, defending the Constitution and fighting to preserve the Union. Daniel Webster, in his own words, will introduce you to Henry Clay, John C. Calhoun, and Presidents Adams and Jefferson as he knew them. And he might also have something to say about Medford! There will be refreshments at 6:45, a brief Friends business meeting at 7:00, followed by the performance at 7:30. The performance is open to everyone whether they belong to the Friends or not! Jim Cooke is an actor who turned from the drama of the stage to the “dry” pages of history. He performs four characters, Calvin Coolidge, Edward Everett, John Quincy Adams, and Daniel Webster, who are known as the Cranky Yankees.
