Featuring the stunning photography of Ian Dobrowolski, documenting modern local Massachusetts movie theaters alongside historical photos of now-extinct Medford theaters and unique vintage advertisements.
Once found on every corner as the social hub of the town in the early 20th century, the neighborhood movie theater became obsolete once cars became available and the American desire for "more, bigger, and better" films took hold of the nation.
Dobrowolski’s collection was inspired by the magic and thrill we can all relate to when attending the movies. He began the project two years ago as a student at the New England School of Photography. “This collection will be a never-ending project for me,” says Dobrowolski. “The theater is something that is so close to my heart. It fascinates me.”
Light refreshments will be served at the reception being held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Silver Screenings will be available for viewing through August 26th, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and evenings and weekends when other programs are in session.
