MEDFORD, MA — A Medford middle schooler has won her second consecutive essay contest for the Boston Historical Society's. Teagan Mustone, an eighth grade student at the Andrews Middle School, is the first student to win two years in a row.

The contest is held annually by the Boston Historical Society and Boston Duck Tours with the aim of encouraging students to become interested in both history and writing. This year's subject was King Philip's War.

"Usually classes submit an essay or a teacher encourages a student to submit one, but Teagan, once again, decided on her own, to enter the contest," Jim Healey of the Historical Society said in a statement.
