Route 16 Project Recognized

MassDOT's bridge repair in Medford and Everett won an award.

The Revere Beach Parkway Bridge Repair Project in Medford and Everett was recently one of seven MassDOT construction projects recognized at an engineering awards gala.

MassDOT said the Route 16 project won the Bronze Award at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Massachusetts 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards awards, which was celebrated Wednesday night in Cambridge.

According to a MassDOT release, the "$10.7 million project to replace the bridge that carries the Revere Beach Parkway/Winthrop Avenue (Route 145) over the MBTA and B&M Railroad. The project was designed by MassDOT consultant TranSystems Corporation and constructed by Barletta Heavy Division Inc. The project rehabilitated the substructure and constructed a new pony truss superstructure that visually complements the nature of the historic district, and also reconstructed intersections and added accessible pedestrian signals and paths."
