Screwdriver Assault Outside Medford Starbucks, Suspect Charged

A Medford man was arraigned Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly stabbed another man with a screwdriver outside the Starbucks at Wellington Circle.

The victim, a 30-year-old male, suffered non-life threatening facial injuries. He was transported to Mass. General.

The suspect, 28-year-old Junior Dornevil, picked the wrong place - the Starbucks is across the street from the Medford State Police Barracks. Troopers responded immediately after the 9 a.m. assault.

Police say Dornevil and the victim did not know each other. Police were washing the pavement in front of Starbucks around 10:45 a.m.

Dornevil was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to maim, mayhem and disorderly conduct. He was held without bail pending a dangerous hearing next Tuesday.

It apparently isn't the first time Dornevil has been in hot water. Medford Patch previously reported on his alleged efforts to run down a pedestrian in Inman Square while driving for Papa John's.

According to that police report, Dornevil shouted obscenities and accused officers of being racist, saying, "I ain't talking to them white cops."
