SALEM, MA —It was a beautiful fall weekend on the North Shore with plenty of sunshine despite some brisk nights.

While the extra hour of sleep was nice, the end of Daylight Saving Time means it will now be getting very dark very early with sunset at 4:29 p.m.

With election season pretty much wrapped up, it's going to start looking a little bit more like the holidays with Santa coming to the Northshore Mall and ice skating returning to MarketStreet Lynnfield.

Salem Animal Shelter Rescues Arkansas Cruelty Case Dogs

Ten of the 280 dogs rescued from "deplorable conditions" in Arkansas were in Salem getting care at the Northeast Animal Shelter.

The shelter sent a van to Tennessee on Monday to pick up the dogs, which arrived back in Salem on Wednesday.

The Northeast Animal Shelter described the 10 Salem dogs as "scared, skinny, but friendly" pit bulls ranging from 3 to 6 years old.
