22 Years Later, Murder of Somerville Teen Remains Unsolved

Police are still searching for 17-year-old Deanna Cremin's killer.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Thursday, March 30 marks 22 years since 17-year-old Deanna Cremin's body was found behind a housing complex on Jaques Street. Police have never found her killer.

Deanna was studying at her boyfriend's house the night of March 29, 1995. At around 11 p.m., her boyfriend walked her part of the way home and turned back, he later told Cremin's mother.

She never returned home.

The next day, two children found her body on their way to school. She had just turned 17.

In a 2015 interview with the Boston Globe, Katherine Cremin expressed frustration over the lack of answers in her daughter's death, but said she hasn't lost hope.

"Because of the person Deanna was, no one’s going to give up on getting justice for her," she told the Globe.

The community hasn't forgotten Deanna, either. A yearly prayer service is held in March to celebrate her life, and last year the city dedicated Deanna Cremin Playground – formerly Otis Playground – in her memory.

The group Friends of Deanna Cremin is offering a $70,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction and asks everyone to "honor her memory today by paying it forward and performing any random act of kindness throughout the day."
