Baby Born On Highway Reunited With First Responders (PHOTOS)

SOMERVILLE, MA – A Massachusetts State Police trooper was reunited with the baby girl he helped deliver on the side of the road in Somerville earlier this year. Karl Johnson was on his way to court June 20 when he received a call that a woman on her way to the hospital had gone into labor. He arrived at the scene on McGrath Highway as the baby was starting to crown and helped deliver her.

Paramedics Sean Byron and Cristine Janiak responded shortly after and took the family to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The family, Bo and Yishu Wang and their infant daughter, Alyssa, visited the state police barracks last Thursday to thank the first responders who helped them. Yishu told state police Alyssa became a celebrity at the hospital as word spread of her roadside birth.

Johnson, Byron and Janiak gave Alyssa a pink onesie and bib, both with the Massachusetts State Police patch, and each took a turn holding her.
