Documentary Shows Opioid Crisis Through Somerville Friend Group
A new STAT documentary focuses on three friends from Somerville who died of overdoses.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A new documentary from Boston Globe Media-owned website STAT showcases the opioid crisis through a Somerville circle of friends. "Runnin'," directed by STAT producer Alex Hogan, centers on three childhood friends, Sean Curtis, Kevin Sullivan and Alex Foster.
The three friends, who all died of overdoses, grew up in Somerville with Hogan. The filmmaker began interviewing friends and family members of the men and started working on a documentary in February 2017, according to Boston.com.
Family members and friends of Curtis, Sullivan and Foster discuss what it's like having a loved one in the thralls of opioid addiction and attending multiple wakes at a young age.
