MESSIAH! - THE CONCERT SINGERS CELEBRATE 35TH SEASON

The Concert Singers celebrate 35th season with a performance of G. F. Handel's Messiah, Parts I and II.

The Concert Singers
Thirty Fifth Anniversary Season Concerts
The Concert Singers will celebrate their thirty fifth anniversary season with two performances of Parts 1 and II of Handel’s Messiah. It has become a tradition of the chorus to present this beloved holiday season masterpiece every five years. A quartet of professional soloists including well known Boston soprano Dana Schnitzer and tenor Mark Nemeskal will join the chorus along with an orchestra of twenty two instrumentalists.
The first performance will take place on Friday evening, December 5, 2104 at 8:00pm, at the Unitarian-Universalist Church, 101 Forest Avenue, Swampscott, MA. The second performance will be on Sunday afternoon, December 7, 2104 at 2:30pm, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 571 Boston Street, West Lynn, MA. Both concerts are free of charge and both venues are handicap accessible.
The Concert Singers was organized in 1979 to provide an opportunity for musically talented people to receive instruction and perform choral music under professional direction as well as to stimulate interest and appreciation of the same in the North Shore area. The fifty five members of the group hail from seventeen cities and towns north of Boston, as well as two from the South Shore. The one thing that makes the Concert Singers unique, is that all of their concerts are offered free of charge to the public. This is accomplished through a combination of grants and contributions, both public and private; and a semi-annual lobster roll sale. It is through the hard work and dedication of its membership that the Concert Singers are able to continue this tradition.
William C. Sano of Salem has been the Music Director of the Concert Singers for twenty eight years. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music. Mr. Sano is the instructor for the “Season at Symphony” class in Swampscott; teaches for the Salem State Explorers LLI; and is the form music supervisor in the Marblehead Public Schools. Margaret J. Dee, the accompanist for the chorus, is a charter member of the Concert Singers. She is a former music teacher in the Danvers Public Schools and is currently the organist at Our Lady Church in Lynnfield.
These concerts are funded in part by LynnArts, Inc. and the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation.
