Worcester Man Pleads Guilty To Gun, Ammunition Charge

He faces a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man pleaded guilty last week to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Gilbert Morin, 39, pleaded guilty on Friday, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Massachusetts.

Police responded to reports of a man, later identified as Morin, with a gun outside of a nightclub on May 30 of last year. When officers couldn't find the suspect at the scene, they drove a bit and saw Morin, who appeared to be concealing an item in his hand.

Police tried to stop Morin, but he led officers on a foot chase through the Worcester Common behind City Hall.

Morin was arrested, and police said he possessed a Taurus pistol, which was loaded with ammunition. He was charged in state court in May and has remained in custody since then.

Morin has been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison. He now faces a sentence of up to 15 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
