• Vacant Birmingham gas station site gets $8M makeover (axios.com) — A long-vacant former gas station at Woodward and Quarton in Birmingham is finally being transformed into an $8 million headquarters for local firm InvestWise Financial. Cleanup of old underground tanks and contaminated soil cleared the way for a three-story office with a glass conservatory and rooftop terrace, now under construction and aiming for a July 2027 opening.
   

• National Merit scholars program names 535 Michigan semifinalists (detroitnews.com) — Several Birmingham students, including those from Roeper and Seaholm High School, are among Michigan's 535 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, placing them in the top 1% of U.S. seniors. The statewide list highlights high-achieving juniors from 121 schools who will now compete for about 6,700 scholarships worth $24 million to be awarded next spring and summer.
