3 Farmington Hills Firefighters to be Honored for Bravery
The firefighters helped rescue a contract worker who was trapped inside the burning mix tower at Piedmont Concrete.

Three Farmington Hills firefighters will be honored with medals for bravery for their heroism in the rescue of a victim trapped in the Piedmont Concrete inferno in January.
The honored firefighters to be recognized at ceremony next week include Sgt. Jarod Foshag, paramedic/firefighter; Aaron Berwick, paramedic/firefighter; and Justin Parker, firefighter/EMT, according to a news release.

The public is invited to attend the Sept. 9 ceremony, to be held at at 7 p.m. at Fire Station No. 4, located at 28711 Drake Road.
Five contract workers were trapped in the mixer tower when Jan. 8 fire broke out. Four of the contractors were able to escape, but a fifth remained trapped. Firefighters entered the tower from the top and were able to rescue him. Two firefighters were sustained minor injuries in the effort.

Also at the Sept. 9 event, a badge ceremony will be held for seven paid-on-call firefighters who will be sworn in after a year of probation.
The Farmington Hills Fire Department said 20 members of the new 2015 Recruit Class will be taking their official oath to become Farmington Hills firefighters.
