Local Business Leaders Elected Officers of Lung Association Board

Today, the American Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City announced that three local leaders have been elected as officers of the Local Leadership Board of Directors.

The new elected officers are:

• Chair: James M. Brophy, Advisor for North American Partners in Anesthesia and Redivus Health
• Vice Chair: H. William Barkman, MD, MSPH, FCCP Associate Professor , Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, The University of Kansas Medical Center
• Nominating Chair: Margaret Richards, JD, Director of Pro Bono Services for Husch Blackwell LLP

The Lung Association’s Local Leadership Board of Directors, which has 20 members, helps lead the organization in their mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. The purpose of the Board is to raise the Lung Association’s profile in the community, advocate for lung health, and increase resources to fund local programs and services. Board members impact the work of the Association’s programs and services, public policy, research, and revenue generation.

Their insight and experience is critical to helping us in our mission to end lung disease,” said Linda Crider, executive director for the Lung Association. “Thank you to the service of these individuals, we are helping Kansas and Missouri residents breathe easier.”

The Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City conducts much of its work through fundraisers throughout the year. The organization held their biggest fundraisers of the year in February, the Fight For Air Climb at One Kansas City Place, and in May, the LUNG FORCE Glam, which collectively raised more than $370,000. Additionally, the organization just held its LUNG FORCE Expo on June 14, an event that brings patients, caregivers and healthcare providers together to learn more about the latest trends, resources and research surrounding lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension.
