Backed by Jackson County funding and led by the Urban League of Greater Kansas City, the project aims to fix 43 homes, stabilize longtime homeowners, and create long-term job opportunities through hands-on workforce development.
   

2. North Lawn tenant union reaches relocation agreement with Kansas City after vacate notices (kshb.com) — Tenants at North Lawn Apartments have reached a relocation agreement with Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and city staff after vacate notices over unsafe conditions. Displaced residents will receive rent support, moving help, and other assistance while the landlord and tenant union negotiate repairs and the complex's future, highlighting growing tenant organizing in Kansas City's northeast neighborhood.

The Kansas City Fire Department put out 24 fires in eight months at Olive Park Village, a burned-out disaster (kshb.com) — Olive Park Village in Kansas City has seen 24 fires this year, forcing costly, repeated responses from the Kansas City Fire Department and prompting emergency demolitions by the city. Neighbors say the burned-out complex is dragging down their area, while Kansas City has already spent tens of thousands on fencing, demolition, and helping former tenants find new housing.
