CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help after accusing a felon and convicted drug dealer of failing to return to a minimum-security inmate facility on Saturday night.
Shawn Michael Bailey, 39, was placed on escape status by the department at 10:35 p.m. after being told he was placed on house restriction at the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester. He is white, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighs around 170 lbs. He has brown eyes and brown hair. Bailey was last wearing a black hooded “CCM” sweatshirt, jeans, and black sneakers.

Bailey is on minimum security after being convicted of being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, two counts of controlled drug sale, and violation of probation.
His maximum custody release was Aug. 1, 2029.
Bailey’s criminal record, according to superior court records, dates back about 15 years, when he was charged with burglary in Greenville. He pleaded guilty in April 2012 and received a two-to-four-year prison sentence, suspended for five years, with two years of probation. Bailey pleaded guilty to violation of probation in August 2012 and received 34 days in jail. In May 2013, he was convicted again on a probation violation and received a nine-month sentence with 25 days of time served.
In April 2022, Bailey was charged with acts prohibited, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, falsifying physical evidence, and driving after revocation of suspension charges in Merrimack. He was also charged with acts prohibited and operating without a valid license in Nashua. A month later, in May 2022, he was charged with subsequent drug possession and resisting in Nashua. Bailey was charged with felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, resisting, and two acts prohibited charges in Nashua in May 2023. In July 2023, he pleaded guilty to one weapon possession charge and received a three-to-five-year sentence, suspended for five years with four years of probation. Bailey also pleaded guilty to a dangerous weapon charge and two acts prohibited charges and received three three-to-six-year prison sentences, both suspended for five years and four years of probation.
A year later, he pleaded guilty to two probation or parole violation charges and received a sentence of three to six years in prison, with 242 days of time-served credit.
In Nashua in January 2024, Bailey was charged with subsequent drug possession charges and resisting arrest. He pleaded guilty in July 2024 to the resisting charge and received a 12-month sentence, suspended for five years.
Bailey received work release privileges in November 2025.
