ARRESTS: Swerving Car Leads to Bad Check Charge for Passenger

Plus, teen allegedly steals sunglasses, homeless man allegedly threatens to punch cop.

Tammy Lynn Sweatt, 47, of Village Street in Penacook, was arrested at 1 a.m. on Aug. 20, on an issuing bad checks charge from Nov. 1, 2013, at Gibson’s Bookstore on South Main Street. An officer on patrol on Village Street reportedly saw a Ford Escape “swerving all over the road” and pulled it over near Merrimack Valley High School. The driver reportedly told the officer that he had just dropped his dog off at the vet and was “a little shaken up.” The driver was cleared by a check of the passengers’ identifications led to a warrant for Sweatt. She was taken into custody and had a court date on Sept. 22.

Christopher Eugene Holland, 18, of East Side Drive in Concord, was arrested at 6:43 a.m. on Aug. 20, on two counts of receiving stolen property. Officers were sent to the Hess gas station on North Main Street for a report of a theft. A clerk stated that a man came into the store and began “acting odd” near the sunglasses display. Later, the man left. The clerk went over to the area, looked around, and found two sunglass price tags thrown on the floor. Two pairs, valued at about $25, were also missing. Police began checking the area and found a man, later identified as Holland, matching the description of the man at Hess. He was at Storrs and North Main allegedly carrying two pairs of sunglasses in his hand. “While speaking with Chris, it appeared that he was under the influence of something,” the officer wrote. Another officer arrived at the scene, took the sunglasses, and went back to Hess to see if they matched the missing items and they reportedly did. Holland was arrested and had a court date on Aug. 22.

Herbert N. Thibeault, 50, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 20, on a criminal trespass charge. Officers on bike patrol near The Friendly Kitchen saw Thibeault sitting on a bench at the gazebo and believed that he had a no trespass order for the soup kitchen’s property. The letter was still active, issued on March 29, and Thibeault was arrested. He refused bail services and was arraigned on Aug. 21.

Walter Irving Healey, 60, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at 12:57 p.m. on Aug. 20, and charged with two counts of criminal threatening, and default or breach of bail conditions, and a willful concealment charge from Aug. 14, at the CVS on North Main Street. Officers were called to the homeless hangout behind Granite Group on Storrs Street to take Healey into custody on a warrant. Healey allegedly smelled like alcohol and was unsteady on his feet. He was reportedly cooperative until the officer headed to the station and began yelling and “became belligerent and out of control,” stating he would refuse bail and not be fingerprinted. A sergeant advised to take Healey directly to the Merrimack County House of Corrections. On the way, Healey allegedly yelled at the officer, screamed obscenities, called the officer stupid, and threatened, “I am going to shoot you” and stated, “You’re going to need (a Taser) ... as soon as these cuffs are off, I’m going to punch you in the forehead.” Healey was arraigned the next day.

Derek C. Maltais, 30, of High Ridge Trail in Concord, was arrested at 5:35 p.m. on Aug. 20, on a simple assault charge. Officers were sent to High Ridge Trail for a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke to a man who stated that his brother was yelling at their mother and allegedly threatened to punch and kill him. The brother alleged that Maltais put him in a headlock and threw him against a couch and he landed on the floor. The reporting officer spoke to the mother who stated she heard a commotion and saw Maltais put her other son in a chokehold. Officers went to speak to Maltais who was in his room. He allegedly stated that he was “sleeping the whole time” and that nothing happened. He later allegedly stated that his brother “needed to be taught a lesson” and rolled his eyes when asked if he put him in a headlock. He was arrested and had a court date on Aug. 22.

Serena Newton, 40, of Fayette Street in Concord, was arrested at 6 p.m. on Aug. 20, on a simple assault charge from Riverbend on Fayette Street on Aug. 3. Newton was arraigned on Sept. 22.

Brandon L. Franklin, 40, of Beehole Road in Loudon, was arrested at 8:17 p.m. on Aug. 20, on a felony habitual offender charge from March 29, at the Walmart on Loudon Road. Loudon Police arrested Franklin on the Concord warrant. He is due in court on Sept. 29.

Britt Mara, 37, of Croteau Court in Manchester, was arrested at 9 p.m. on Aug. 20, on a theft by unauthorized taking or transfer charge from April 8, at the Walmart on Loudon Road. Mara, who was in the Rockingham County Jail, was charged, and arraigned on Sept. 22.

Thakur P. Kharel, 23, of Concord Gardens in Concord, was arrested at 11:18 p.m. on Aug. 20, on a resisting arrest or detention charge. Officers were called to an apartment at Concord Gardens for an intoxicated person. A woman reported to police that Kharel was allegedly drinking all day and they were unable to control him. While speaking with the people who called police, Kharel allegedly began swearing and speaking loudly and he was taken into protective custody. As officers attempted to restrain him, he allegedly wouldn’t comply with the arrest. It took two officers and sergeant to restrain him and taken directly to the Merrimack County House of Corrections. Kharel was arraigned on Aug. 21.

Gregory A. Murray, 28, of Washington Street in Penacook, was arrested at 11:29 p.m. on Aug. 20, and charged with felony forgery, receiving stolen property, and theft by deception from the TD Bank on North Main Street on July 3. Murray turned himself in to police and is due in court on Aug. 29.
