City Of Concord Issues Jan. 23 Winter Storm Citywide Parking Ban

Due to a storm expected to bring 4 to 8 inches of snow to Concord, the city has banned all on-street parking from Sunday night to Monday.

CONCORD, NH — The city of Concord issued an on-street parking ban on Sunday for the overnight hours on Monday in preparation for another snowstorm.

The city declared the winter storm event parking ban due to weather forecasters predicting between 4 and 8 inches of snow and wind gusts of up to 40 mph. No on-street parking will be allowed on any city street between 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, until 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23. Violators of the parking ban were subject to receiving a ticket and being towed by Concord police.

During the most recent parking ban on Friday morning, in which someone shot a gun downtown, dozens of vehicles were towed.

Parking is free in city garages from 7 p.m. tonight through 8 a.m. on Monday for permit-lease spaces (marked with signage) and 9 a.m. for metered spaces. The city has garages on School Street, State Street, and Storrs Street.

Penacook residents can park at the Canal Street Municipal Parking Lot at the corner of Village and Canal streets near Chief's Restaurant. The city said the parking lot was posted for “no overnight parking,” but the regulation was suspended during citywide winter parking bans to accommodate Penacook residents. The city requested Penacook residents only park in the public spaces on the south side of the lot along Canal Street.
