Concord Detectives Say Cumberland Farms Robbery Was An Inside Job

CONCORD, NH — Investigators inside the Concord Police Department accuse two men of conspiring to commit a phony robbery at a store on Fisherville Road Aug. 25.

Around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers were sent to the Cumberland Farms for a report of a past tense armed robbery. According to Deputy Chief John Thomas, an employee told officers a masked man entered the store and demanded cash from the employee.

"The suspect claimed to have a firearm but one was not presented," Thomas said. "Following the robbery, the suspect fled on foot."

At the time of the call, dispatch told officers in the field an employee had reported the robbery to a supervisor before calling police — an odd occurrence. During the course of the investigation, "detectives determined that the robbery was planned by the store clerk and an associate of the clerk," Thomas said. Because the department was able to quickly build a case, information was not released immediately. Instead, police issued arrest warrants for two suspects.

Christopher P. Frost, 27, pictured upper left, was arrested Friday and charged with armed robbery and falsifying physical evidence, both felonies. Benjamin Berry, 26, was also arrested Friday and charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, a felony, and false report to law enforcement.

Berry and Frost both turned themselves in to police without incident and were released on personal recognizance bail. They are due in Merrimack County Superior Court for arraignment at a later date.

Frost, according to court documents, was convicted on controlled drug: acts prohibited and felony falsifying physical evidence charges in February after an incident in Hudson in September 2019. Another drug case out of Laconia from March was nolle prossed.
