CONCORD, NH — A local man, with a string of previous arrests, was arrested on default or breach of bail conditions after allegedly refusing to leave an apartment on the Heights, according to documents. Thakur P. Kharel, 26, of Royal Gardens in Concord, was arrested on Jan. 3, 2018, for simple assault, domestic violence-simple assault, two counts of criminal mischief-vandalism, obstructing a report of a crime or injury, and domestic violence-obstructing a report of a crime or injury. Then, on Jan. 9, he was arrested again for default after police were sent to an apartment at Royal Gardens at around 6 p.m. for a report of an unwanted guest. Kharel – according to dispatch – was allegedly at the residence and wasn’t supposed to be there.

Kharel also reportedly had a domestic violence-stalking criminal order of protection including orders and conditions of bail stating he couldn’t have contact with a woman who was living in the home after the alleged incident the week before. Police also had a domestic violence protection order to serve to him, according to an affidavit.

When officers arrived, a woman pointed to the door and stated that Kharel was allegedly inside, asleep on the couch. The reporting officer entered the apartment, reportedly saw Kharel on the couch, next to an open can of Naddy Daddy.

“I could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath,” the reporting officer said. “(The woman) stated she had gone to the laundry room and when she came back, Kharel was sitting on the couch and refused to leave.”

The woman told the officer she went to court a few days before and confirmed that he was not supposed to be in the apartment, per his bail conditions.

The officer checked the bail order and confirmed that it was active and required Kharel to be away from the woman after being arrested on Jan. 3. He was also ordered to refrain from being without 300 feet of the woman and was not supposed to be drinking alcohol.

The officer arrested Kharel and his bail was set at $2,000 cash. Since he couldn’t come up with the funds, he was held and arraigned on Jan. 10.

Kharel, according to previous posts on Patch, was arrested in November 2015, for driving while intoxicated, speeding, conduct after an accident, and moving a vehicle after reportedly crashing into other vehicles at the apartment complex. About six months before, in February, he was arrested for conduct after an accident after an alleged incident at Concord Gardens. In August 2014, he was arrested for resisting after allegedly being intoxicated and swearing loudly. In November 2013, he was arrested on a bail jumping charge out of Concord District Court and was arrested after an officer saw him on Ormond Street. A year before the conduct charge, in August 2013, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and theft of lost or mislaid property after reportedly crashing into a utility pole at the Concord Gardens apartment complex. He had an active warrant for allegedly stealing an iPod Touch belonging to a resident at the complex.
