Concord Man Charged In January Middle School Overdose Incident: Follow-Up

CONCORD, NH — After a multi-month investigation into an overdose at one of the city’s middle schools, Concord police have arrested a man on drug possession and other charges.
On Jan. 5, Concord police and fire and rescue teams were sent to the Rundlett Middle School for a report of a student who was found unconscious and unresponsive after arriving for classes. The student was taken to the nurse’s office. EMTs then took the student to Concord Hospital for treatment, Lt. Thomas Yerkes of the Concord Police Department said Tuesday.

“Information received during the investigation indicated that the student was exposed to an illicit substance outside of school grounds,” he said.

Yerkes said police investigated the matter and executed a search warrant at an address on Fisherville Road. Evidence from the address was “collected” and “later tested” at the state police forensic lab, he said.
On Monday, police arrested Shawn Jeffrey, 47, of Concord, on possession of a controlled drug and common nuisances charges, both felonies, as well as endangering the welfare of a child. He was processed and released on personal recognizance. Jeffrey is due in Concord District Court for arraignment on June 2.
Yerkes said the department was assisted in the investigation by staff from Rundlett Middle School and the Division for Children, Youth, and Families.

Previously, according to posts on Patch, Jeffrey has been charged with criminal trespass, simple assault, domestic violence, resisting arrest, criminal threatening, and stalking, connected to incidents during the past 18 months.
