On Sept. 1, police were sent to Chappell Tractor at 391 Loudon Road for a report of a motorcycle found on the property. An employee led the officer to the motorcycle, which was spray-painted black and had scrapes and gouges on its sides. The ignition switch and key area were removed and replaced with a plastic toggle switch. There was also a trail of oil under the bike. The officer traced the trail of oil to Sheep Davis Road near the town line with Loudon. An oil drain plug was also missing from the motorcycle. The license plate said the bike was a 2000 BMW R1100 owned by a teenager in Merrimack. The VIN number reported it was a 2000 Honda CBR 900RR registered to a different teenager. The plate had not been reported stolen, the report said, but a check found the motorcycle with the VIN was reported stolen out of Manchester on Aug. 4. The motorcycle was then towed from the scene. The officer checked surveillance video with the business manager and found a man walking the bike up to the building around 6 p.m. the day before. The man was picked up by a driver in a pickup truck later. A screenshot of the man walking the motorcycle onto the property was distributed to other officers and identified as Bergeron by two officers and a detective, the report said. A check found he was a habitual offender and a warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 10.
