CONCORD, NH — A man from Concord, accused of raping a girl repeatedly in the spring of 2021 in Boscawen, Bow, and Concord, was sent to prison for at least 17 years on Thursday.

Gregory Madison Perkins, 31, of Concord Gardens in Concord, pleaded guilty to five charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault, all felonies, against a person under 16 but older than 13. Originally, he was charged with seven counts and indicted on eight after family members of the victim found and began investigating “disturbing text messages” on the girl’s iPhone in June 2021.

Police investigated the incidents while the victim originally said the text messages were nothing but later admitted to being sexually assaulted. After an interview at the Merrimack County Advocacy Center, forensic investigations of her iPhone, social media account, and a used condom found near Walker Pond in Boscawen during the course of the investigation, Perkins was arrested.

Perkins will serve between 17 and 40 years in the New Hampshire State Prison for Men. After he is released, Perkins will be subject to an additional sentence of 10 to 20 years, which can be imposed if he violates the terms of his sentence or the conditions of his release, Paul Halvorsen, the Merrimack County Attorney, said.

In addition to good behavior, Perkins, during his release, must also comply with any recommended counseling requirements and will be expected to have no contact with the victim or their family.

Halvorsen praised Judge Brian Tucker for his “thoughtful conversation” with the victim during sentencing.

“The bravery and willingness of the survivor to step forward and be heard,” Halvorsen said, “is inspirational.”

Eight years before the rapes took place, Perkins assaulted his 21-week-old son causing multiple fractures. He was convicted on a first-degree assault charge in May 2014, and served a year in prison.
