Firefighters arrived to treat the victim while officers went up to the apartment and reportedly found Roberts, according to Lt. Sean Ford, the commander of the criminal investigations division for the Concord Police Department.
"(Roberts) tried to flee from officers," Ford stated. "Roberts had unrelated arrest warrants (probation/parole violation) and was taken into custody. Also, inside of the apartment police located a juvenile, who was taken into protective custody."

During a multi-week investigation, police interviewed witnesses, executed search warrants, and collected evidence. They accuse Roberts and the juvenile of entering the victim's apartment, who they knew, "under false pretenses," and once inside, "Roberts, armed with a hammer, began a series of assaults on the victim," Ford said.
Even though the victim was restrained and bound for a period of time, he was able to escape by jumping out of a bedroom window and asked a passerby for help.
Roberts refused bail. He will be arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on Thursday.
Roberts was convicted on a sexual assault charge as well as two simple assault charges in October 2004, in Rockingham County and two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault on a victim under 16 in September 2008, in Belknap County, according to state records. Between 2004 and 2017, he has been convicted of violation of terms, possession of drugs, witness tampering, second-degree assault charges, reckless conduct, stalking, domestic violence, and both duty to report and failure to comply. Roberts was a Fugitive of the Week in February 2017, due to a parole violation. He was arrested three months later in Lebanon hiding under a bed in an apartment.
