Gilford Man Faces Armed Robbery, Felony Threat Charges In Concord
Carroll Thompson was also charged with obstruction and assault after a Bog Road incident; a prior 2016 rape trial ended with a hung jury.

CONCORD, NH — A Lakes Region man was arrested and indicted on charges after an incident at a Bog Road apartment in mid-October.
On Oct. 18, around 11 a.m., police were sent to the address for a report of a man grabbing a woman by the neck and pointing a gun at her cheek, according to an affidavit.
The woman said she came home for lunch and after leaving, she saw a man standing next to her. The woman identified the man as Carroll R. Thompson, 50, of Lake Shore Road in Gilford. The woman asked him to leave and he stated he only needed a few minutes and began questioning her about whether or not she was seeing someone romantically, the report stated. When she began to walk away, he was accused of following her and becoming confrontational in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

In the lot, Thompson was accused of not allowing the woman to get into her vehicle. After she was able to get into the vehicle, Thompson was accused of entering the passenger side. When the victim pulled out her phone to call police, Thompson pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun, the affidavit stated.
The victim stated Thompson said, “I will not go to jail. I’ll kill myself right in front of you,” the report said.

“Please don’t,” she countered, “just go before I call.”
At that point, Thompson went to the back of the vehicle and put the victim in a headlock, the affidavit said. After some tussling around, Thompson was accused of shoving the gun “solidly” into her cheek while threatening to take his own life again, saying he could her go on living a happy life with someone else.
A blue SUV then pulled up next to her vehicle and Thompson put the gun away, the report said, and ordered the victim to be quiet “or I’ll hurt them, too.” He was also accused of taking her cellphone. After a person exited the blue SUV, the victim jumped out, told them to get back in their car and call 911 because “he has a gun.” The victim said the people in the SUV ignored her and she requested again for them to call 911 due to Thompson taking her phone, the affidavit stated. The woman then fled her vehicle to her apartment, called 911, and police then showed up.
Police put out a description of Thompson and interviewed her about their relationship. She said they had been dating off and on for four years — when he was not using meth, the report said.
An officer saw Thompson near the Family Dollar and running toward the Irving gas station. Other officers arrived to search the area but could not find him, the officer wrote.
The officer also spoke to a witness who confirmed hearing the victim screaming and that Thompson was near the vehicle, the report said. The witness accused Thompson of walking away “with one hand tucked under his shirt.”
A second witness confirmed hearing “hysterical crying” coming from the parking lot. When she looked out the window, she saw the man and gave a description matching how others described him.
The officer also spoke to the owner of the SUV. She advised that she did not see anything out of the ordinary, according to the report.
Another man said he heard the pair arguing and the man said something like, “Did you hear what this b---- just said?,” to him, according to the report.
The officer called Thompson but he declined to comment on the incident, the officer said.
A warrant was issued for his arrest later that day.
Thompson was arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on Oct. 20. He was indicted by a grand jury on the criminal threatening charges on Nov. 16. Thompson has a dispositional conference and another arraignment booked for Jan. 18, 2022.
According to the Laconia Daily Sun, Thompson was accused of two counts of rape about five years ago. The trial ended in a hung jury in December 2016. Thompson was later arrested on eight breach of bail charges, accused of contacting the victim in the case before she was scheduled to testify.
