CONCORD, NH — A local homeless man, with several priors, is facing more charges after being accused of pulling a knife on cops last month.

Gordon Robert Hollingworth, 28, a homeless man now located in Concord, was arrested at 10:35 a.m. on May 20 on felony criminal threatening-deadly weapon and resisting arrest or detention charges.

Concord fire and rescue teams as well as police were sent to the area of North Main and Storrs streets for a report of a man rolling around on the sidewalk, acting strangely, according to a report. An officer found the man and said he was “punching himself in the throat” in the parking lot of Cumbies on North Main Street. A witness told the officer the man “was ‘yelling at people and throwing things,’” a report said.

When firefighters arrived, the man, identified later as Hollingworth, ran to the north side of the store and “became increasingly aggravated,” the officer said. Other officers arrived while checking with dispatch to see if he had any warrants. While doing so, Hollingworth “looked directly” at the officer and said, “You know what?” and pulled out a folding knife and opened it, holding it “above his head in a manner consistent with slashing in a downward motion,” an affidavit said.

The reporting officer and two other officers pulled out their firearms and ordered Hollingworth to drop the knife. One officer told the reporting officer to transition to a Taser, and while doing so, Hollingworth dropped the blade and it was kicked away from him, the report said. Hollingworth was cuffed and brought to a cruiser but “went limp” which caused a “struggle” because “he would not walk,” the report said. One officer deployed a baton, placed it under Hollingworth’s arm, and then he began to walk to the cruiser, the affidavit said.

Hollingworth was accused of not cooperating during booking and was taken straight to the county jail. He was arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on May 22 and released on bail. On June 7, according to court documents, a motion was made to revoke his bail.

According to posts on Patch, Hollingworth has a history of being accused of threatening people.

Last year, during the Concord High School Class of 2022 prom, he was accused of threatening to kill attendees as well as assaulting a cop, pretending a paintbrush was a gun, and resisting arrest. Also in 2022, he was accused of threatening people on Manchester Street and the Heights Fire Station on Loudon Road, during separate incidents.
