Just before 9 p.m. on Oct. 7, South End residents began calling police to report gunfire in Rollins Park. As officers arrived at the scene, witnesses reported at least two vehicles fleeing the scene, including a white sedan, which was found later on Pierce Street. The vehicle reportedly had bullet holes in it, according to scanner chatter.

Police dispatch took a call from a man on Pierce Street reportedly claiming to have shot someone, and police took that man into custody and began looking for the other man, who was believed to be the victim of the shooting. He was found later at the 7-Eleven on South Main Street after he called into police.

News 603 posted a video from the 7-Eleven on Facebook:

A K-9 unit was brought in to search the park and police were in the area of the basketball courts for several hours.

According to court complaints, Laroche was accused of shooting at another Concord resident, a teenager, during the commission of a robbery, reportedly involving marijuana. About 45 minutes after the shooting, Laroche was accused of concealing two handguns, a SAR9 Mete and a Taurus, in a shed on Fellows Street to impair a police investigation.

It would appear from his booking photo that Laroche was the man who was shot in the park due to the stitches on the right side of his forehead.

Deputy Chief John Thomas was not available for comment before post time. This investigation remains open and ongoing, according to a police statement.
