On Aug. 24, 2016, a detective reportedly had a phone conversation with “Tuna” – Charles Thompson – about purchasing a gram of heroin for $120, according to a court affidavit. The detective alleged that he had met Thompson through a cooperating individual and they had exchanged numbers. The detective noted that the phone number was Barton’s, who was reportedly with all of them at the time.

“After I parked behind his truck, Thompson got out and spike with Barton briefly,” the detective alleged. “Thompson then returned to my car and told me that he was meeting his source in the barber shop, and that he was going to put my money in an envelope he was holding.”
The detective allegedly gave him $120, got out of the vehicle, and walked into the shop.
A short time later, Barton entered the detective’s vehicle to make “small talk,” while they were waiting. Thompson exited the shop, came over to the car, and allegedly handed the detective a small paper “ticket” with a substance that the detective believed was heroin, according to court document.
After a brief conversation, Barton and Thompson allegedly got out of the vehicle and the detective left, according to the report.
A field test came back with an inconclusive result something that the detective noted was “common” with the current heroin/fentanyl mixtures being sold, “due to different dilution levels.”
A warrant was filed in December 2016, and Thompson was arrested on Feb. 16.
A week later, the detective allegedly texted Barton about purchasing meth and after texting, they reportedly spoke on the phone and agreed to meet at Burlington Coat Factory for a $200 exchange, according to the affidavit.
At around 11 a.m., the detective saw Barton and another woman – Arianna Beaulieu – standing by the pickup truck.
“Both women were speaking with the occupants of a white pickup truck that was parked next to the passenger side of Kelly’s truck,” the detective alleged. “Barton explained that her source was in the white truck and that she needed the money first.”
The detective allegedly gave her $200, she went up to the driver’s side of the white pickup truck, and began speaking to the driver. A short time later, she allegedly came back to the detective with Beaulieu. They both entered the detective’s vehicle and Barton allegedly handed over a plastic bag of a substance that later tested presumptive positive to be meth.
The women exited the car after small talk and left the area, the detective alleged.
According to posts on Patch, both Barton and Thompson have been arrested before. Back in February of last year, they were arrested on theft charges after allegedly stealing DVDs from Walmart.
