Police Investigating Threat At Pembroke Academy
Breaking: The school was placed in "shelter in place" after a threat was made via an electronic device, according to police.

PEMBROKE, NH — Pembroke Academy was placed in lockdown this afternoon while police investigated a threat against the school, according to an alert from Chief Dwayne Gilman and parents receiving notifications. Police were sent to the school at around 1 p.m. on Nov. 16, 2017, after PA reported “a threat made via electronic device,” he noted. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and didn’t release specifics about the threat.
“The school went into a shelter in place as police and school officials investigated the threat and its validity,” Gilman stated. “Investigators determined the origin of the threat and confirmed that all students and faculty are safe and secure at that time.”
Students were released in their normal routine without incident, he noted.

It has been about 21 months since the school was placed on lockdown or alert due to a threat. In February 2016, the school was placed on lockdown but the threat was later deemed not to be credible. Three days shy of two years ago, a bomb threat was reported at the school. In March and April 2015, there were threats reported at the school. During previous threats, students cracked jokes and posted notes on Twitter with a hashtag, speaking about the evacuation and threat incident.
In December 2015, police as well as Pembroke Fire and Rescue teams and school officials held a “school threat” drill in order to prepare for evacuation and emergency situations.
