Presidential Primary Candidates Return To Press Flesh: FITN 2020

Bennet, Booker, Gabbard, Klobuchar, Patrick, Sanders, Warren, and Weld all hold events around the Granite State this weekend.

CONCORD, NH — The fifth of 12 Democratic National Committee sanctioned debates is in the books and candidates are flocking back to New Hampshire attempting to woo voters in the state's first-in-the-nation primary. U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, D-CO, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ, U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-HI, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-MN., U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, as well as former Gov. William Weld, R-MA, will all be in New Hampshire this weekend. Some, actually, are in the state right now.

Gabbard hosted a town hall in Hudson Thursday. She also will attend a house party in Jaffrey Friday at 6:30 p.m., a house party in Gilford Saturday at 10 a.m., and a town hall at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Klobuchar will be at New England College for a town hall at 2 p.m. on Friday and then will be at St. Anselm College for a Stay Work Play New Hampshire event at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Klobuchar will be at Colby-Sawyer College in New London for a town hall at 12:30 p.m. and will host a town hall in Lebanon at 3 p.m. at Spark! Community Center.

Warren hosts a canvass kickoff in Salem at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and then a town hall at the Henry McLaughlin Middle School on Mammoth Road in Manchester at 2:45 p.m.

Her return to the state follows 50 state representatives signing an open letter of support for Warren's campaign. Those representatives include Sam Fox of Bow; Connie Lane, Kris Schultz, Mary Jane Wallner, and Safiya Wazir of Concord; Lisa Bunker, Julie Gilman, and Gaby Grossman of Exeter; Kathy Stack and Wendy Thomas of Merrimack; Tamara Le of North Hampton; Michael Pedersen, Deb Stevens, and Sue Vail of Nashua; and David Meuse and Peter Somssich of Portsmouth.

Weld will be speaking at a Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce breakfast on Friday as well as hosting an event ("A Night Out with Bill Weld") at the Portsmouth Gas Light Company at 6:30 p.m. Friday. He will also be marching in the Concord Christmas Parade at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on the Heights.

Booker hosts a town hall at UNH in Durham at 6 p.m. Friday and a meet-and-greet at the Portsmouth Brewery on Market Street in Portsmouth at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, Booker attends a town hall with state employees in Concord at SEA headquarters at 9:30 a.m., will be at meet-and-greets at 2 p.m. at Tilton Brothers Brewing in Hampton, 6 p.m. at The Garage at Governor's Inn in Rochester, and To Share Brewing at 8:30 p.m. in Manchester.

At Franklin High School at noon Saturday, Sanders will host a town hall. He is also attending the labor solidarity dinner at the Executive Court Banquet Facility in Manchester at 6 p.m. Sanders holds a town hall in Hillsboro at the American Legion hall at 1 p.m. on Sunday and a rally in Portsmouth at the South Church UU Church at 5 p.m. In Salem on Monday, Sanders attends a town hall at the Elks Lodge at noon, an interfaith action meeting at 4 p.m. in Manchester, and a meeting with the SEA at the Holiday Inn in Concord at 5:30 p.m.

Bennet will meet with Londonderry Democrats at 1 p.m. Saturday on Hovey Road and attends a meet-and-greet at the hospitality center at SNHU in Manchester at 5 p.m. He attends a house party at 36 Salmon Street in Manchester at 10 a.m. Sunday. Bennet will attend a meet-and-greet at 7 Riverwoods Drive in Exeter at 1 p.m. Monday and an education conversation with Results for America at UNH School of Law at 3:30 p.m.

Former Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick will speak at the Politics & Eggs breakfast at the NH IOP at St. A's at 8 a.m. Monday.

Surrogates Here, Too

A couple of surrogates will also be in New Hampshire campaigning in support of their candidates.

Major General William Enyart, a surrogate for Vice President Joe Biden, will be in the state Sunday and Monday. He'll make stops in Biden campaign offices in Portsmouth and Dover, and attend a house party on Pine Street in Concord on Sunday and then a World Affairs Council of New Hampshire meeting in Hooksett and Manchester campaign offices and Tilton at the New Hampshire Veterans Home on Monday.

Nan Whaley, the mayor of Dayton, Ohio, was in Portsmouth and Somersworth Thursday campaigning for South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttgieg. Buttgieg also received the endorsement this week of Randy Filiault, an eight-term Keene city councilor and Navy veteran, and former state Sen. Mark Fernald, D-Portsmouth.
