Snowstorm Prediction For New Hampshire: A Dud

Weather is a tricky thing … and sometimes, the forecasters get it wrong … and they did with the pre-Valentine's Day snowstorm.

CONCORD, NH — On Monday night, the National Weather Service issued updated pre-Valentine’s Day snowstorm information, reversing its predictions that central and southern New Hampshire would receive 6 inches or more of snow.

The storm, forecasters said, “shifted farther offshore” than first expected, leading to much lower snowfall predictions for the day.

At post time, snow has not yet fallen in Concord and the capital region, although the wind predictions have, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

A coastal flood advisory remains in place for Seacoast communities this afternoon.

Some, like the Pelham Police Department, had fun with the off-prediction.

Others might not be so happy since, according to WMUR.com, 72 schools, programs, and other events were canceled early even though little to no snow had fallen.

Until next time ... which, BTW, is Thursday night and Friday morning ...
