Woman Arrested After Route 101 Chase With Troopers: New Hampshire State Police News Roundup

CONCORD, NH — A woman from Rochester was arrested on multiple charges after a chase with New Hampshire State Police on Route 101 on June 11.

Around 7:45 a.m., state police received reports about a red Toyota Corolla failing to stop for police on Route 101 in Hampton. Troopers found the vehicle, traveling west, and attempted to stop the driver, but the driver refused to stop, a report stated.

A chase ensued until Auburn, when the driver, Kathleen Feeney, 45, of Rochester, was accused of being involved in a minor crash with another vehicle. However, she continued to attempt to flee, state police said.

Tire deflation devices were deployed and the driver stopped near Hookset Road.

Feeney was arrested on felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor charges of disobeying a police officer, conduct after an accident, criminal mischief, and a violation of reckless operation. She was held on preventive detention in the Rockingham County Jail, with a scheduled arraignment booked for June 12.

Assisting state police were Auburn, Hampton, and Raymond police as well as Auburn firefighters.

Drowning At Wilson Pond In Swanzey

A man from Ecuador drowned while swimming with friends in Swanzey on Sunday.

New Hampshire Marine Patrol was requested to Wilson Pond around 3:30 p.m. for a report of a drowning. After an investigation, the patrol officers determined Fredy Gavilanes Jami, 42, entered an area with a steep dropoff. He went underwater unnoticed by his three friends swimming with him that afternoon.

After they noticed he was missing, they began to call for help. Bystanders called Swanzey police and attempted to assist but were unable to bring him to shore. An officer found Gavilanes Jami and removed him from the pond.

Emergency personnel performed lifesaving measures at the scene before Gavilanes Jami was taken to Cheshire Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

“At this time,” a report stated, “the death is not believed to be suspicious in nature. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.”

Troopers, Cops Tag Commercial Vehicles In Plaistow With Violations

State police worked with cops in Plaistow, making 30 traffic stops of commercial vehicles on Friday and discovered 146 violations, according to a report.

“Members of both agencies worked together on an enhanced enforcement patrol to deter and detect excessive speed, violations of weight restrictions, driving on restricted roads, as well as other unsafe behaviors by commercial drivers,” the report stated, “as part of an ongoing enforcement effort, to address concerns expressed by Plaistow residents related to the unsafe operation of commercial vehicles in the town.”

During the inspections, five drivers and seven vehicles were taken out of service and removed from the road due to “critical safety violations and improper driver credentialling.” Several summonses and warnings were also issued.

This was the second enforcement effort. A previous enforcement was held on Jan. 13.
