Woman On Bath Salts Bites, Scratches Soon-To-Be Concord Ex: Cops
Amanda Jane Bernier faces domestic violence, drug sales, and criminal trespass charges in the capital city after two arrests in four weeks.

CONCORD, NH — A homeless woman with a slew of priors faces more changes in Concord after two arrests within the span of a month. Amanda Jane Bernier, 36, was arrested at 5:34 p.m. on June 29, on domestic violence-simple assault, simple assault charges, and warrants. A few weeks later, at 4:40 a.m. on July 24, she was charged with three counts of sale of a controlled drug and two counts of criminal trespass.
In the domestic violence incident, according to a court affidavit, police were sent to North State Street near Pleasant for a report of a man who was assaulted. When officers arrived, they spoke to the victim who stated that a woman, later identified as Bernier, "was on bath salts" and "bit his arms and scratched him as he tried to pull away," according to a court affidavit. He accused Bernier of fleeing the scene by hopping over a fence and heading into Bicentennial Square.
"(The victim) told me (they) had been going through a break up and that Bernier attacked him several times," the reporting officer said. "Words were exchanged and Bernier thought that he said something mean to her but he did not … Bernier got very angry and continued to attack him."

The officer confirmed the bite marks on the victim's arm and scratches that were bleeding from his arms as well, the report stated.
Cops caught up with Bernier in the Durgin Block Garage a few blocks away. She denied attacking the victim "but did bear hug him in order to prevent him from leaving the apartment," the officer wrote. When asked about the bite marks and scratches Bernier "had nothing to say and did not want to talk to me." When told that she did not have to speak with the officer but that she also couldn't restrain someone from leaving because it was unprivileged contact, "Bernier stated she didn't care and had nothing to say."

A check yielded two warrants on Bernier – one from Merrimack County for violation of probation and another from Strafford Count for failure to appear on a possession of a controlled drugs with intent to distribute – so she was arrested and held without bail.
Limited information is available about the drug and criminal trespass charges. However, at least one of the charges stems from an incident at the Regency Hill Estates apartment complex on East Side Drive.
According to posts on Patch, Bernier has had numerous arrests during the past eight years, including felony disposing of stolen property, felony sale of controlled drug, felony sale of methamphetamine, criminal trespass, falsifying evidence, and violation of a protection order charges as well as warrants. In 2018, she was indicted twice on the meth sales counts and falsifying evidence – flushing a hypodermic needle down the toilet to hinder a police investigation.
Bernier was convicted on a drug possession charge in October 2010 in Merrimack County Superior Court.
