CONCORD, NH — Evan Ward, born 1994, homeless, was arrested at 11:18 a.m. on June 30, 2019, on a state police warrant, a bench warrant for nonappearance in court on a theft by unauthorized taking charge, and a willful concealment charge. According to an affidavit, police were called to the store for a report of a suspicious person – a woman, walking barefoot, wearing dirty clothing, who appeared confused. The woman was speaking "very scattered" and unable to tell the officers why she was in the store or what she was going walking around. She later identified a man she was with who was in the self-checkout area. The officers spoke with the man and he allegedly gave the name "Chris Holsom" as well as a birthdate but dispatch couldn't find that name on file. The officers asked again for a name and during the course of their inaction with the man, he reportedly gave several different names, none of which were on file. One of the officers, however, noticed that the man was allegedly wearing a second pair of jeans with tags still on them. The man was detained and brought to loss prevention. During a search, five pairs of white tank tops were allegedly found inside the jeans as well as a second shirt. The value of the clothing was $36. The affidavit stated that Ward then gave his correct name to officers, he was arrested, and held without bail.
