Another Police Sobriety Checkpoint is Coming

Portsmouth Police will be hosting one this weekend, according to Chief Stephen DuBois.

The Portsmouth Police Department will be hosting a sobriety checkpoint this weekend, according to a press statement.

“Sobriety Checkpoints have had proven success in the apprehension of drunk drivers in Portsmouth, NH, and elsewhere,” DuBois said in a statement. “We are confident that these upcoming checkpoints will be no exception.”

Sobriety checkpoints are supported by the New Hampshire branch of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), he noted, and the use of checkpoints to deter drunk driving has been approved by the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
