Fire In Kitchen Closes Fair Lawn Elementary School

The fire started in an oven at Warren Point Elementary School, officials said.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Warren Point Elementary School was closed Wednesday after a fire broke out in the kitchen, officials said.

The fire started in an oven and was contained to the kitchen, said Fair Lawn Police Sgt. Brian Metzler.

The fire was extinguished, but the school will be closed while officials inspect the building's electrical system, Metzler said. The scene was clear of emergency responders by 9 a.m., he said.

Everyone at the school is safe, Metzler said. The fire occurred before the school day started.
