Hit-And-Run Driver Turns Himself In: Fair Lawn Police Blotter
A woman was charged with DWI after crashing her vehicle on Route 208, police said.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — The following incidents occurred in Fair Lawn this week, police said:
- Police responded to Route 208 South at Saddle River Road Tuesday at about 11 p.m. for a motor vehicle crash and found the vehicle without a driver, authorities said. Officer Geovanny Buitron located the driver, Deborah Polak, 34, of Teaneck walking on Saddle River Road at Wyckoff Terrace, police said. Polak was arrested after police said she failed a roadside sobriety test. She was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and failure to observe traffic lanes. She was released to a responsible adult after being charged, police said.
- Officer Brian Goodson stopped David Gamboa, 24, of Englewood, on Broadway at 35th St. just before 9 p.m. Wednesday and charged him with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Police said they found marijuana in his vehicle; he was released after posting bail, authorities said.
- The driver in a hit-and-run crash turned himself into police Saturday afternoon. Joshua Mercado, 32, of Union City told police he was the driver in the April 24 crash on Berdan Avenue near River Road, police said. He had arrest warrants out on him in Weehawken and Paterson. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and operating a motor vehicle without a license and turned over to Paterson Police.
- Officer Tiller Uriarte approached Aaron Dorn, who looked "suspicious" walking on Broadway at Banta Place shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. Dorn, 29, of Flanders, was arrested after police found him carrying $133 worth of shoplifted items from CVS and evidence of drug use, police said. Authorities found a $10,000 arrest warrant out on Dorn in Mount Olive and others in Paterson and Elmwood Park. Dorn was charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia and handed over to Mount Olive Police, authorities said.
