Jury Selection Begins In Saddle Brook Doctor Trial
Bernard Greenspan, 79, is accused of accepting bribes in a $100 million kickback scheme.

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Jury selection began Tuesday in the trial of a Saddle Brook family doctor accused of accepting bribes in a long-running kickback scheme.
A federal Grand Jury indicted Bernard Greenspan, 79, in March on 10 counts, including wire fraud, charging him with accepting bribes in exchange for test referrals as part of a long-running and elaborate scheme run by Biodiagnostic Laboratory Services LLC (BLS), of Parsippany, its president and numerous associates.
More than 41 people, including 27 doctors, have plead guilty in connection with the scheme, which involved millions of dollars in bribes and resulted in more than $100 million Medicare and insurance payments, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman previously said.

It is believed the scheme has led to the largest number of medical professionals ever prosecuted in a bribery case, Fishman said.
