FRANKLIN, NJ — Despite a heroic rescue by animal control officers, a fawn died of injuries sustained after getting stuck in a car and driven from Franklin to Morristown.
The fawn was hit by a Hyundai Sonata on Interstate 287 in Morristown and the driver didn't know it was there until she got to the Somerset section of Franklin Township, said Rick Hagedorn, one of the Franklin Animal Control Officers who helped pull the fawn free.
Lt. Philip Rizzo said the driver had stopped at a convenience store on Easton Avenue when she heard the fawn crying and called police.
